ROME

Historic, welcoming, lovely, wonderful, astonishing, eternal, hectic, magic, surprising, romantic. Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, making the Italian capital the perfect setting for your wedding. The eternal city is an extraordinary open-air museum where every street and corner are rich in stories and legends, and where the archaeological sites allow you to dive deep into history.

Wedding in Rome by Vanessa Cerrone event planner

Rome is the perfect city for both Italian and foreign couples, and is well connected with the rest of the world thanks to an international airport just 30 minutes from the city centre. Whether it’s a romantic escape or a big wedding, Rome and its surroundings will provide you with an unforgettable stay—a wonderful honeymoon for the couple and some incredible tours for the guests, who will be blessed with an authentic ‘Roman holiday’.

Strolling around the centre, renting a bike or a Vespa scooter—there are plenty of ways to discover Rome and succumb to its charms. You’ll fall in love with the Colosseum, Piazza di Spagna, the Trevi Fountain, Castel Sant’Angelo. You can also visit archaeological sites, museums or be dazzled by the Sistine Chapel. The romantic views from the Pincian or Gianicolo Hills will take your breath away. To experience the wonders of the Reinassance or Christianity you can visit one the many churches in the area.

Rome can offer you the wedding you’ve always dreamt of. Celebrate your civil ceremony in beautiful venues such as Campidoglio, the deconsecrated church of Caracalla, or in one of the many wonderful locations and historic houses on offer in the municipality. If you prefer to have a religious ceremony with Catholic rites, Rome is the perfect city. The capital is home to more than 900 churches—the highest number of churches in any city worldwide. Their history is linked to the story of the city across the centuries and it marks the religious, social and artistic evolution of this beautiful place. Rich in art and history, the perfect setting for your ‘Yes’. The list below gives you an idea of the charm that you can find: San Giorgio al Velabro, Basilica Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Mausoleo di Santa Costanza, San Pietro in Montorio, Basilica dei Santi Bonifacio e Alessio, Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, Basilica di Santa Francesca Romana, Basilica di Santa Maria in Aracoeli, Santi Nereo e Achilleo, Basilica di San Giovanni e Paolo al Celio, Santa Sabina, Sant’Alessio.

Any Protestant, Jewish or Orthodox weddings can be performed in the relevant places of worship in the area.

Couples looking for something different in a romantic, symbolic ceremony can celebrate their love on a panoramic terrace, in a courtyard, garden or historical palace.

After the ceremony, you can choose the option that suits you best: an intimate lunch at a family restaurant in one of the ancient neighbourhoods nearby; brunch in a rooftop garden while enjoying the wonderful views, or a reception in one of the many villas, farmhouses, buildings and castles in the city centre or surrounding area. A real paradise for people who love fun, food and bon ton.

The Lazio region has even more to offer. Just a few miles from Rome, you will find yourself surrounded by stunning landscapes, lakes, romantic castles and villas where you can organise the event you have always dreamt of. Small medieval and renaissance cities, intimate churches and tiny villages could be the option you have been looking for. Some of the most fascinating archaeological sites are only a stone’s throw from the capital, for example Ostia Antica and Tivoli, famous for its thermal baths.

For those who love lakes and would like an intimate wedding immersed in nature, Albano, Vico and Bolsena are great options. If you dream of a fairytale wedding, Castello Odescalchi in Bracciano offers breathtaking views over the lake. For couples who would like to exchange vows on a beach at sunset, the Southern coast is the perfect setting. From places such as Nettuno, Terracina, San Felice Circeo, Sperlonga you can take a boat to the Pontine islands: Ponza, Palmarola, Ventotene, Santo Stefano, Zannone e Gavi are all ‘precious gems’ by the seaside. Another alternative, just 50 minutes drive north-west from the capital, is the town of Santa Marinella. A small, intimate place on the coast, it is home to the ancient castle owned by the Odescalchi family.

There are plenty of options! Thanks to an extensive knowledge and a careful selection of locations, houses, hotels and providers, you are guaranteed a service of excellent quality. I’m sure that by working together, we can find the perfect option for your wedding and for a delightful stay. I look forward to receiving your requests. See you soon!

The Amalfi Coast – Sorrento, Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, Capri

The Amalfi Coast is a natural paradise. There is no better way to describe this charming place, and it is no surprise that the Amalfi coastline is one of the 50 World Heritage Sites in Italy listed by UNESCO. It is definitely somewhere you should visit at least once in your life. The geography of Amalfi gives the impression of a balcony overlooking the landscape, halfway between the cobalt blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the light blue sky that so many painters have tried to replicate over the years. The Amalfi Coast is famous for its orange blossoms and lemons, for the sea salt and wild macchia. It is all laid out vertically, with the houses hanging over the rocks, tucked away in picturesque streets. The area encompasses the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno, and includes 14 cities: Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Scala, Tramonti, Vietri sul Mare and Agerola. They are all connected through the trunk road “163 Amalfitana”, widely considered to be one of the most beautiful roads in the whole country.

Relax, take your time, and enjoy a wonderful stay on the Amalfi Coast. Getting married in such a beautiful setting is a truly unique experience. The landscapes, the bright colours of nature, the flavours of the traditional cuisine, the sun and the great hospitality will warm your hearts.

AMALFI

One of the gems of the Amalfi Coast is Amalfi, the main city that gives its name and prestige to the entire coastline. According to legend, the city was built as an act of love by Hercules to his love Amalfi, whose beautiful blue eyes were the same colour as the sea. The origins of the city seems to date back to the Roman period, around time of the Emperor Tiberius. Amalfi is the most ancient Marine Republic in Italy and has been one of the most popular tourist destinations since the eighteenth century.

The cathedral, the Duomo di Amalfi, and its impressive church tower overlook the main square of the city. It can be reached via the magnificent stone staircase in the middle of the square. The cloister, the ‘Chiostro del Paradiso’ is right next to the cathedral. It is made of 120 Arabic-style columns and is rich with ancient paintings and mosaics.

The city is renowned for the production of paper—very valuable and exported all over the world.

A very popular destination for couples who are looking for an intimate and exclusive wedding.

If you would like a civil ceremony legally recognised you can pick Salone Morelli, a room at the Amalfi Town Hall (a building from the 16th century, located in the heart of Amalfi, very close to the cathedral).
Another option is Antichi Arsenali della Repubblica, a few steps away from the main square (these are arsenals that were once used for building and reparing warships that have now turned into the Compass Museum).

Catholic couples can celebrate their rites inside Amalfi’s cathedral, while for non-Catholics and Protestants there are a whole host of wonderful options available: gardens, villas and panoramic terraces.

SORRENTO

Sorrento is one of the most popular destinations for weddings in Italy. The coastline is made of tufa stone and is reflected in the sea of the Gulf of Naples. The Sorrento Peninsula is named after the city and includes a wide area that stretches from Vico Equense to Massa Lubrense. Thanks to the geography of the area—suspended between green hills and blue sea, with a mild climate—the area has long been one of the main attractions in Southern Italy, making it one of the most popular destinations in Campania.

The so-called ‘land of the sirens’ has long fascinated poets and intellectuals such as Goethe, Stendhal, D’Annunzio and Ibsen, as well as musicians such as Rossini, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Wagner. The area even had a number of illustrious guests such as Dickens and Nietzche. Both Italian and foreign couples choose this place for their weddings and honeymoons.

The municipality of Sorrento has a wide range of beautiful settings for civil ceremonies. For example, the fourteenth century Cloister of San Francesco is one of the oldest monuments in the city, located by the church of the same name in the historic centre. The Correale Museum, an old aristocratic residence, is another excellent choice for celebrations during autumn and winter. After the ceremony, you can continue the celebration with your guests at a luxurious villa or in one of city’s exclusive hotels— BelleVue Syrene, an old patrician residence; Villa Antiche Mura, overlooking the sea; Grand Hotel Ambasciatori in the city centre; Villa Angelina, and many more.

RAVELLO

Ravello is a quiet, intimate alternative to the hustle and bustle of the rest of the coast, where you can still enjoy the breathtaking views of the blue water of the Amalfi Coast. Nature, charm and elegance make this village the perfect setting for a romantic wedding.

Questi luoghi hanno ispirato autori, poeti e compositori come Richard Wagner, Boccaccio e D.H. Lawrence. Questa piccola oasi è stata la cornice che ha ospitato la fuga d’amore di Greta Garbo famosa attrice di Hollywood.

These places have inspired authors, poets and composers such as Wagner, Boccaccio and D.H. Lawrence. This small oasis is where Hollywood actress Greta Garbo had her love escape.
Enchanting landscapes that forever stay in your heart and mind, like the gorgeous pearl Villa Rufolo, in the city centre, that offers you the chance to overlook a wonderful stretch of coast.

Se siete alla ricerca di un matrimonio chic, intimo ed esclusivo Ravello è perfetta per voi, è stata descritta poeticamente come “a metà strada tra il cielo e il mare”.

Both civil and catholic ceremonies can be arranged in the heart of Ravello.

Protestant, Jewish, symbolic and non-religious ceremonies can also be held in one of the gardens overlooking the sea. There are plenty of stunning settings for your big day. For example, the idyllic location of Villa Cimbrone makes it difficult to find the right words to define its rare beauty; Palazzo Avino, a twelfth century villa turned luxury hotel (Jewish, protestant and symbolic ceremonies can be performed on the terrace that can host up to 40 people). The beautiful garden of Villa Eva, a magical place situated in a panoramic position in the heart of Ravello, can also host your ceremonies.

POSITANO

Weddings in Positano are a wonderful experience. The blue of the sea meets the white of the Moorish houses; the village is a maze of small streets where the smell of lemons and bougainvillea creates a special atmosphere. Couples looking for a Catholic ceremony can arrange this at the cathedral. The local municipality is able to schedule times and dates for civil weddings. Positano Town Hall is located in the upper part of the city, a picturesque area that dominates the whole area. Weather permitting, civil ceremonies can be performed on the wonderful panoramic terrace overlooking the sea, giving stunning views over the Bay of Positano. In the event of poor weather, there is an indoor hall that can seat up to 50 people.
The city is not very well connected, therefore it is essential that every detail (including timings) is planned very carefully.

If you would like a romantic, intimate setting by the sea, the Rada restaurant may be a good option for your candle-lit reception. You can enjoy the excellent Italian cuisine as well as a great selection of wines before dancing till dawn.

CAPRI

The small island of Capri is a real paradise, filled with the magical scent of flowers. The island used to be the private playground of Roman emperors such as Tiberius, but nowadays it is one of Italy’s most glamorous cities. Whitewashed houses, Moorish architecture, ancient medieval trails and panoramic views over the rocks and surrounding sea (including the incredible ‘Faraglioni’ stacks). A visit to the terraces of Giardini di Augusto and the picturesque villa San Michele are not to be missed.
The closest airport is Naples (2 hours away), and from there you can take the hydrofoil to Capri (around 40 minutes).
The best time of year to get married on Capri is between April and October.

It’s hard to find the right words to describe so much beauty. If you like the sea, the warmth of the sun, and are looking for an alternative location, the island of Capri has got you covered with its amazing settings. From Giardini di Augusto to Villa Lysis, from Belvedere di Tragara to Punta Cannone and also La Migliera, a small amphitheater in the city of Anacapri—there are plenty of stunning places to celebrate your civil or symbolic rites. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, your ceremony can even be performed on a boat sailing around the Faraglioni stacks, which will make it the perfect love escape.

Umbria

The heart of Italy! Halfway between Florence and Rome.

A mystical, fascinating, welcoming land worth discovering. Endless sunflower fields, olive trees, vineyards, lakes and ancient villages with gorgeous examples of medieval architecture. In addition, there are art cities full of history like Assisi, Gubbio, Orvieto, Perugia and Terni —not to forget the majestic Marmore Falls, one of the most beautiful in Europe and the impressive Lake Trasimeno. You will easily succumb to the elegant, authentic charms of this region, where you will receive excellent hospitality and can enjoy the great culinary tradition.

Umbria is the perfect setting for your special day, whether it’s a romantic getaway for two or an event to share with family and friends. Couples can choose from agritourism, farmhouses, castles, small villages and historical residencies.

This region is perfect for a boho-chic style wedding. Couples with a small number of guests can easily be accommodated in one of the elegant villas nestled among the rolling green hills, where they can celebrate with family and friends all night long.

If you would like to get married in a Catholic church you are in the right place—there is nothing more romantic than a small chapel in a historic church. If you prefer a civil ceremony, both Perugia and Assisi have lovely welcoming town halls, but there are also plenty of other wonderful options where you can have a legally binding civil ceremony. If you want to impress your guests with an alternative location, the Grotta del Vecchio Mulino —an Etruscan cave in Orvieto—is a great choice. This city also offers the uniqueness of the stunning Teatro Mancinelli. The list of extraordinary places where you can hold your event is endless, but the selection below will give you an idea of the countless solutions this green land has to offer: Abbazia Sette Frati (Pietrafitta, Perugia), Badia di Orvieto (Orvieto), Borgo Baroncino (Borgo Poreta, between Spoleto and Trevi), Borgo della Marmotta (Poreto, Perugia), Borgo San Pietro Aqua&Ortus (Allerona, Terni), Castello Bonaparte (Gubbio, Perugia), Castello di Montegiove (Montegabbione, Terni), Castello di Petroia (Gubbio, Perugia), Torre Almonte (Todi, Perugia), Villa Buon Viaggio (District of Buon Viaggio, Orvieto).

SPOLETO

Spoleto is one of the top destinations in Umbria. It is the perfect setting to celebrate weddings in a place that is steeped in history yet also intimate and inviting.

Spoleto is a medieval gem and the former capital of the region. The city is perched on a hill and can only be explored by foot. You will by fascinated by its cobbled streets, which maintain their original structure and offer a truly special atmosphere. The famous ‘Festival dei Due Mondi’ attracts many visitors every summer: it is one of the most renowned cultural events in Italy, and involves international artists from all over the world coming together to celebrate music, dance and theatre. The rare beauty of the cathedral makes it an excellent setting for a catholic wedding, but if you have chosen a civil ceremony, the historical Pinacoteca in the city centre is the ideal place for you.

PERUGIA

Perugia is the biggest city in Umbria and is also the capital of the region. Perugia still maintains the structure of the past; the city is virtually unchanged, full of steep alleys and stairs, wonderful buildings, churches, picturesque spots and wonderful panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

Weddings can be celebrated in the spectacular Palazzo dei Priori, a thirteenth century building located in one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, complete with a gorgeous fountain.

For those who prefer an intimate wedding, Sala della Vaccara is a great option, but if the season permits and you prefer an outdoor ceremony, the beauty of Villa Mara and Perugia Castle are there for you!

GUBBIO

Gubbio is situated on the slopes of Mount Ingino and can be reached through a romantic road that cuts through a chestnut forest. Gubbio is a small medieval town full of charm. The main square, Piazza della Signoria, opens up to breathtaking views across the surrounding valley. Civil ceremonies take place in Palazzo dei Consoli (with its majestic staircase), built in 1349.

Il Lake Trasimeno is the fourth biggest lake in Italy.
It is situated on the border between two regions, Umbria and Tuscany, and is the perfect crossroad for romantic itineraries, trips to the countryside and excursions to the art cities.

Lake Trasimeno is a true natural paradise, populated by wild ducks, cormorants, kites and kingfishers. In the background, gentle rolling hills jostle for space with sunflower and cornfields, extensive vineyards and olive trees.

The Trasimeno district includes several towns, some of which overlook the lake. Others are slightly tucked away, but you can still feel the charm.

Castiglione del Lago for example, rises on a rocky limestone promontory, on top of the remains of several Etruscan tombs. Here you can admire the castle, the medieval walls, the Palazzo Ducale and the Rocca del Leone. Città della Pieve is a quiet, typical medieval village once home to Etruscans and Romans. This town is also the location of the narrowest street in Italy and is the birthplace of the painter Pietro Vannucci, also known as ‘Perugino’—hence the presence of many of his artworks around the city.

From the medieval village of Passignano, with the beautiful tower Torre di Ponente from 1300, you can take
a boat to the island of Isola Maggiore, which is still inhabited.

Polvese is the largest of the three islands. No longer inhabited, it is now used as a public park. Here you can admire churches like Monastero di S. Secondo, Chiesa di S. Giuliano and a castle from the 14th century, which has been recently renovated. Nearby is the village of Magione. The village is dominated by the Castle of the Knights of Malta and famous for the production of beaten copper with a special technique of engraving.

Whether you prefer a romantic getaway for two or a wedding to share with friends and family, Lake Trasimeno is a great choice. It is the ideal location to hold your event and indulge in a gorgeous stay, enjoying nature, boat trips and excellent local cuisine.
For civil ceremonies, the area offers historic town halls from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, rich in art and frescos that will take your breath away. Unlike other places in Italy, civil ceremonies can be celebrated outdoors and in the many private villas in the area. For couples who prefer a religious ceremony with Catholic rites, there are quite a few churches to choose from. After the ceremony, you have plenty of options to continue the celebrations: brunch or breakfast in an intimate local restaurant, or perhaps a party or reception at a hotel or in one of the other exclusive locations. Most of the settings with the most beautiful views can be found along the shoreline, where you can enjoy the wonderful scenery around the lake. Below are a selection of the options available in the surrounding cities.
In Braccio: Antica Posta di Braccio; a Castiglione del Lago: Locanda Poggioleone; a Magione: Country House Gradassi, Il Cantico della Natura, Il Borgo sul Lago; a Monteleone d’Orvieto (Terni) Borgo Giorgione; a Passignano sul Trasimeno: La Villa Global Events, Relais la Corte di Hermann, Borgo Monteluce, Castello il Borgia, Locanda del Galluzzo, Relais La Fattoria; a Tuoro sul Trasimeno Agriturismo la Dogana, I Capricci di Merion Antica Residenza.
